REVIEW
5 STARS!!! Can Ande be a real life person because I think I just met my new best friend! Her smart alecky comments and her quick witted comebacks will keep you laughing. There was just the right amount of everything you could ask for in a novel-romance, friendship, heartbreak, sexual tension, the list goes on! I don't want to give too much away but I will say that I'm still torn where the book left off and can't wait to read the second book! I'm looking forward to making dinner tonight-who knew Olives were sexy?!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I reside in Sunny Southern California. I recently self published my first novel, Cutting Deep. I wrote this during a quarter life crisis, and never dreamed it would ever be finished or actually published. I would say I have the worst sense of humor out of anyone I know, except my friends. I find things funny that others may find not so funny, but I cant help myself. I try to find the humor in everything in life. I'm addicted to tattoo's and I'm not sure I know one person in my massive family that does not have a tattoo. Crazy Right?
I will leave you with this quote "Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing" -Ben Franklin.

I truly believe that every person is capable of doing great things. If you told me a year ago I would be self publishing my first novel I would have slapped you and called you crazy. But that is the point. We never think we are capable until we do the unthinkable.

INTERVIEW
1. Where are you from?
I am from Riverside, Ca. Born and raised.

2. When you aren't writing what do you like to do with your time?
I love to read! Since I hit publish it seems the reading has taken a back seat but I still try to squeeze in reading time. I firmly believe reading is instrumental when you're a writer. You learn something from every book you read. Weather that something is good or bad, it's still a learning experience.

3.Did you always know you wanted to be a writer?
When I was little I wanted to be a mermaid. But my mom told me that was impossible so I would write stories about being a mermaid. I started journaling when I was in elementary school. At the age of fifteen or sixteen I wrote my first book in a purple journal I got for my birthday. The title was heart break life. I wish I knew what happened to it. Even after all these years I still remember the opening sentence. I always knew I loved writing but I never thought I would be a writer when I grew up. Writing was something I did for me, for fun. It was an escape. I think I was destined to be a writer, weather it was just for my eyes or for an audience. I was a storyteller. (My mother liked to use the term liar.) I would make up stories when I was a kid and people would believe me. I knew I was on to something then. I think every writer is a liar at the core. You have to convince the masses that what you're writing is real, that these characters are living breathing people and the situations they go through are real. In reality it's a lie. But a good lie.

4. What inspired your book?
The inspiration for Cutting Deep came from my culinary school days.

6. Are any characters or experiences based off of your life or someone you know?
When I started writing Cutting Deep I intended it to be my salute to the people I had met while in culinary school. Many characters and situations are inspired by real people and events.

7. If Cutting Deep was made into a movie and you could cast the leads, who would you chose?
I love Sophia Bush for Ande and Milo Ventimiglia for Daniel.

8. Which writer, if any, would you consider a mentor?
Oh god. If I mention this author in another interview I might as well just stick my head up her ass. Bend over Jessica Park. I began stalking Jessica a few months back. I read her blogs about self publishing and the industry. I remember thinking to myself this lady is nuts. She is balls to the wall and uncensored. And I loved that about her. I have learned in the past few months since I hit publish that everything you say can and will be held against you. This is an issue for me because my mouth is faster than my brain. Jessica has taught me something invaluable through her writing and her daily crazy ass Facebook posts. She taught me that being yourself  in this industry is ok. You don't have to follow a certain path to be successful. Plus she is an overall cool chick. I love her. Obviously.

9. What are you reading right now?
I'm not reading anything currently but I had the pleasure of reading a blog post done by a good friend of mine last night.  It is a beautifully written piece about his struggles as a gay man. Here is the link if you're interested: http://jonesyray.wordpress.com/2013/11/05/i-remember/

10. What are your current projects?
I'm currently working on the second book in the Cut series. I have a standalone on deck that I'm really excited about.

11. What is something you hate doing? Why?
I hate talking on the phone. The awkward silence before you say good bye is something I dread. I thank every god there is for text messaging.

12. Do you ever write naked? :) While under the influence?
I haven't written naked... Yet.  I did send a boob picture to an author buddy the other night. We were comparing size. It's our way of reminding ourselves that even if we suck at writing we still have nice boobs. I have written after consuming half a bottle of moscato.  That was some of my best work ;-).

13. Do you cook like the chefs in your book?
I do. Cooking is just as important to me as writing.

14. What is one of your favorite recipes?
My favorite recipe comes from one of my instructors in Culinary school. It's called Big Jim's Hog Breath chili. It's amazeballs!!!!

15. Tell us something no one knows about you.
I'm obsessed with 80's music. Shhhhhh....

16. Most embarrassing story?
I actually put this story in Cutting Deep. It was too damn funny to leave it out. Refer to the Tattoo shop scene. That happened to me. And I will never live it down.

17. Biggest pet peeve?
People that chew with their mouth open. I seriously want to hit people that do that. SERIOUSLY.

18. Any quirky habits?
I wash my hands A LOT! My hands are always red and dry because I can't stop washing them. I hate germs.

19. Ebooks or Paperback?
Ebooks.

20. Do you judge a book by it's cover?
Yes! But I always read the description to give it a fair shot.

21. Do you listen to music while you write? What is your current favorite?
Most of the time I do. I'm stuck on gravity by Sara Bareilles right now. I was having a hard time with a scene and my editor told me to listen to that song. The flood gates opened.

22. Puppies or Kittens?
Puppies!!
