My Today

My Today
Book Two in the My Way Series
By: HJ Bellus

Synopsis:
Lacey’s Story…

Covering up pain is easy. It’s keeping it tucked away that’s hard. I’ve always needed the cover of tattoos to hide the nasty past that leached its way into me, tainting me beneath my skin. Not the shiny, trendy tats, but the ugly broken kind, meant to keep the world at bay. If they weren’t enough, then my piercings, foul mouth and crazy hair usually did the trick. Life had taught me to never follow the rules, because when you do, you get burned.

That philosophy served its purpose, until I met someone who turned my life upside down. Milly, the little hoochie, stormed into my life and changed everything with her undying faith in me, her love and her shitty coffee concoctions. I found a family in Milly, and her sexy farm boy, Cree. She accepted me without hesitation, and never ran from the dark and dangerous secrets that I harbored. My new family loved me unconditionally, with their showers of sprinkles and impromptu dance parties.

My life was perfectly imperfect until Tripp and his crazy-ass ideas of princesses. Our relationship is what most would describe as fuel meeting fire. We were both hell bent on burning each other to the ground. Tripp, fresh out of rehab, moved in with Milly and Cree to try and make a new life for himself. Tripp, the sexy as hell, charismatic beast, soon became one of my best friends. We shared our love of ice cream and tattoos as we blazed our own path that could only lead to a beautiful train wreck. The only question left is, will we set the countryside ablaze with our hot tempers and foul mouths, or will we paint our own happy ending filled with all the gushy shit normal people crave?

 Excerpts:

This whipped cream canister must make it to my bedroom one day.  As I was fantasizing about the canister, whipped cream and my Beast, a wet rag slapped me across the face snapping me back to reality.

“Jesus Christ, Lacey!  How many times do I have to tell you not to cuss around the customers?  I really didn’t think you were that dumb,” Milly spit out while trying to keep a straight face.

I knew that I pissed her off using foul language in the shop, but I did it just to get her titties all knickered up.

I shot some cream at her and said, “Chill the fuck out!  You know I love you.  Now get my coffee made, biotch, and do it with a smile.”

“You’re impossible!  You know it, Lacey.  Completely impossible,” Milly said as she went to work on my favorite mocha.  The Banana Split Mocha…that shit was amazeballs.

“Settle down, whizzle tits!  I promise, I will try super hard to control calling you biotch in public, you bitoch.”
“You two sound like two little snot-nosed brats,” Willow added.

Review:
“My Today” by H.J. Bellus is the 2nd book in the My Way Series.  You don’t really need to read the first book in the series, “My Now & Forever”, to understand the story of the 2nd book, I didn’t, but you can bet your sweet boot patootie that I’ll be reading it now!
5 Major Inked up Stars for Lacey & Tripp’s lusting & LOVING, laughing & crying, lap sitting & biotch slapping, hell of a ride journey.  I loved this book, from the first page, I loved this book, til the very last word, I loved this book….have I mentioned how much I freaking LOVED this book!
Lacey is just so perfect in her balance of hard and soft; She’s just so, so tough and yet also completely loyal and giving to those people she loves and trusts.  Lacey is the women that has faced the worst of nightmares and managed to somehow live through them, but will always see herself as broken, tainted and undeserving of anything good.  But with a complete overload of awesomeness, insanely wicked potty mouth and crazy sweet sense of humor…Lacey totally rocked Tripp’s nickname for her “’Wild Princess”.
Tripp is so fearsome at bringing sexy back, and he did it without the assist of a music video.  Tripp has got his own kind of broken going on…he’s battling drug/alcohol addiction, still grieving the death of his brother and a Father that spews only hate and loathing towards him.  But Tripp is determined to win the battle with his demons, despite the lack of faith from his parents and the yearning of old habits.  Once Tripp realizes that “family” is defined more by the love, strength and support that you receive from someone, and not so much the circumstances of birth, is when he discovers a genuine sense of freedom from his past and true inner peace. And it’s in that moment, Tripp owns Lacey’s nickname for him, “Beast”.
The heat between Lacey and Tripp is volcanic, unbelievably hot, but there’s also a sincere love that steadily grows as well.  I gotta tell you though; it’s not just throwing in a steamy sex scene that will make a great story for me, although that certainly doesn’t hurt!  But it’s something more, a realness, not good, not bad…I use the word grit, because it’s just a word that for me, kinda sums it up, however you decide to live your life, there’s usually gonna be some grit left behind…and Lacey and Tripp have got some serious  grit in their story, and that’s what made it so real for me and created that emotional connection, I truly felt every laugh, every tear as if they were my own, because they were.  What a phenomenal job H.J. Bellus has done with “My Today” and with Lacey and Tripp’s story; it’s rare when a book can be so emotionally charged and also completely gratifying.  I absolutely enjoyed “My Today” and know the “My Way” Series is going to become a new favorite of mine!  ~Kathy
